What does a typical day on the job look like for you?
A typical day on the job starts with connecting to the phone systems so that I can begin receiving calls. Next, I check my work and Service Center group email. The group email consists of many items, including certificate requests to be processed and submitted, requests for coverage changes, and general questions from agents or insureds. Phone calls we receive usually have similar questions, but yet each day brings its own unique challenges. Monthly, we work with our agents and insureds on renewals. This involves contacting insureds to confirm policy information, reviewing filings and leased company information, and binding the renewals. We also look into coverages and review contracts if any holder wants to be listed as an additional insured.
What surprised you about this role when you first started?
What surprised me about the job is the number of tasks we need to manage with each and every policy. Also, I was surprised by how many agencies Great West works with and how many policies our company carries.
What's challenging about your job?
What is challenging about the job is the extensive amount of knowledge needed. Each day, I have something come up that I may not know how to do or do not fully understand. I continue to learn daily, which is a challenge, but it also keeps the job interesting.
What is the best part about working here?
The best part about working here is the atmosphere and the people. I work for a company that truly cares about us and understands life. I have never had that before, and everyone on my team is always there to help and support me no matter what is going on.
What's your favorite memory from working here?
My favorite memories working here are from our Zoom meetings. I got to talk to my team and learn a bit about each of them.
What advice would you give to someone who just joined our team?
The advice I would give someone who just joined the team would be to not be afraid to ask questions or talk to someone if you feel like you are struggling. We are a team, and most likely all of us have been at that point a time or two and can always help.
Did you ever think you'd be working in insurance?
I never thought working in insurance would be my career. I truly enjoy working for Great West, and I have learned more each and every day. There is always something new that challenges me to grow in my role. I feel there is so much room for advancement.
